Why it matters
Your law school GPA opens or closes doors early
Law school grades are curved, and most of your grade usually comes down to one final exam. First-year grades arrive before most students have learned what professors are actually rewarding.
Those same grades are what employers see during early interview recruiting, what journals and many scholarships look at, and what transfer applications are judged on. Tutoring closes that gap. You learn how your professor tests, how to spot the issues fast, and how to write an answer that earns the points, before the exam rather than after the grade.

You want to start strong
First semester, first exams, and no clear picture of what an A answer looks like. We build the habits early: outlines that work, issue spotting, and timed practice.
After grades
Your grades don't match your effort
You studied hard and the curve still went the wrong way. We find where the points were lost and fix the method for the next set of exams.
Transfer
You're aiming to transfer
A transfer application rests heavily on your first-year grades. Focused help in the courses that count most gives your second semester its best chance.

Hanna Anssari, J.D.
Founder · University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School · Wharton certificate in business management
Hanna earned her J.D. at Penn Carey Law, where she served as an editor of the Journal of Law and Public Affairs. She knows from the inside how law school exams are graded and what separates a passing answer from a top one. Tutoring sessions are hers to run: she works through your actual course materials with you, one subject at a time, and stays with you through the semester.

Questions
Law school tutoring questions
What does a law school tutor do?
A law school tutor helps you understand your courses and write better exam answers. Sessions cover the rules and how cases fit together, issue spotting, answer structure and outlining, using your own syllabus and your professor's materials. The goal is stronger exam performance, which is what decides law school grades.
When should a 1L get a tutor?
Early in the first semester, before habits set. Many 1Ls wait for their first grades, but by then a full set of exams has already counted. Starting in the first few weeks gives time to build outlines and practice under timed conditions before finals.
Can tutoring raise my law school GPA?
It can help, but no honest tutor can promise a grade. Law school grades are curved and depend on your exams. Tutoring targets the things that move exam scores: understanding the material, spotting issues quickly and writing organized answers. How much your GPA changes depends on your courses, your starting point and the work you put in.
Which law school courses do you tutor?
First-year courses including Civil Procedure, Contracts, Torts, Property, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Writing, plus upper-level courses such as Evidence and Corporations. If your course isn't listed, ask. Most doctrinal courses are covered.
How much does law school tutoring cost?
Pricing is set privately for each student. It depends on how many courses you need help with, how complex the material is and how often you want to meet. Send an inquiry with your courses and you'll get a clear quote before anything is booked.
Is tutoring online or in person?
Sessions are one-on-one and online, so you can work with the same tutor wherever your law school is. Times are scheduled around your classes and exam calendar.
Can tutoring help me transfer to another law school?
Yes, indirectly. Transfer applications are judged mainly on first-year grades, so stronger exam results in your 1L courses directly improve your options. Tutoring focuses on the courses where you can gain the most before transfer applications are due.
Is a law school tutor allowed under my school's honor code?
Tutoring that explains the law and teaches exam technique is generally fine. Tutors should never write or edit work you submit for a grade, and we don't. If your school has specific rules about outside help on a particular assignment, follow them and tell us.
Can a parent arrange tutoring for a law student?
Yes. Parents often reach out first and handle scheduling or payment. The sessions themselves are always with the student, and we keep the student involved from the start.
Do I need to be an admissions client to book tutoring?
No. Law school tutoring is a separate service for current students. Many students come to it directly.
